Barbara Bash

Barbara Bash is a calligraphic artist who has been exploring the mixing of Asian sensibility with Western art forms for many years. She creates group experiences of creative aliveness with brush, ink and simple ritual. She is a Shambhala meditation instructor and has collaborated with musicians, storytellers, and dancers in fresh forms of visual learning. Her circle brushstroke is the new Eileen Fisher Company mark.

Family Weekend: Sky Woman Creates the World

Come engage with story, movement, mark making and the great outdoors. We will listen to an ancient myth from the Seneca Nation about the power of basic goodness. By engaging with its wisdom through art, play and natural explorations we can create our world. Together families will embark on a magical journey and share in the creative space of Sky Lake. Big Brush Mind

A four-day immersion into the world of brush, ink and expressive handwriting. We will explore the ancient Chinese principles of heaven, earth and human – first in the making of a brushstroke with small brushes to ground and connect, then with large brushes and buckets of ink, creating spontaneous marks while held in ritual. The world of pictograms, big strokes, mapping a moment, letting our unique handwriting sing, being in improvised dialogue with our life, will all be investigated. An interest in visual language and movement is the only prerequisite.
