Prepare for your visit

When you register for a program, please make sure your email is correct.  We will email you updates and particulars about what to bring for each program.  If you don’t have an email address, please let us know and we will get the information to another way.

  • WHAT TO BRING: We recommend all participants bring the following:
    • Any medications you are taking
    • Comfortable clothing – plan to wear layers in meditation room
    • Closed-top water bottle if you plan on drinking water in the meditation room
    • Hiking shoes or sturdy sneakers
  • MEALS & FOOD: Sky Lake will serve both meat and vegetarian fare throughout the week. If you would like to bring additional food, Sky Lake is equipped with a guest refrigerator where you may store it.  Sky Lake will do its best to accommodate your dietary needs, but we cannot always provide foods for special diets.
  • FINANCES: You can pay the balance due for a program with cash, check, VISA or Mastercard when you arrive.  If you have not paid a deposit, you must do so to hold your place in a program.
  • TRAVEL: Please be careful when driving up Mountain Road to the lodge. The road is narrow so bear to the right and drive mindfully.  If you are taking the bus please call us as soon as you know when you will arrive at 845-658-8556.  Staff must be scheduled to pick you up.  There is a $5 pick up fee per trip. If you are coming from NYC, the bus line is Adirondack Trailways and the stop to get off at is the Rosendale Park & Ride, one stop after New Paltz.   For programs beginning Friday evening, we strongly encourage you to take one of these buses:
    • Leaves Port Authority 3:30pm, Arrives in Rosendale at 5:20pm.
    • Leaves Port Authority 4:00pm, Arrives in Rosendale at 5:50pm
    • Leaves Port Authority 4:30pm, Arrives in Rosendale at 6:20pm
    • (Please double check Adirondack Trailways schedule as it may change.)
  • STUDY MATERIALS: Please bring a notebook with you to the program, and materials listed in emails to be sent.
  • LODGING: Linens, blankets, towels and pillows are all provided in the rooms. Feel free to bring your favorite pillow or extras with you. Please bring your own toiletries.  Meditation cushions are provided in the meditation hall. If you have a favorite cushion, feel free to bring it!
  • If you are sleeping in the shrine hall, please bring:
    • sleeping bag
    • pillow
    • towels
  • TELEPHONE: Most cell phones work in our area.
  • INTERNET: Wireless internet is available for web-based email.
