Getting Started


Meditation is a practice based on the radical idea that the natural state of the mind is not scattered, nervous, and confused, but rather spacious, creative, and clear. Practicing regularly provides a way to settle into this natural state more often. At Sky Lake, we begin by training in shamatha or mindfulness meditation. This foundational technique allows you to tune into the present moment, at home, at work, or wherever you go in your day to day life.

We welcome anyone new to meditation to check out these ongoing introductory classes & programs.

You can drop-in to our community meditation practice; dates and times listed below. Instruction is offered if you are new to meditation.

Weekly Community Meditation Practice

Sunday: 10:00am-12:00pm

Sunday practice includes a reading or a short talk.

Monthly Open House with Dharma Talk

Fourth Tuesday of each month: 6:30-9:30pm

This monthly event, designed for newcomers, includes guided meditation, a dharma talk, and light refreshments following the event.  Community sitting and walking meditation from 6:30-7:30 pm with instruction available, with a dharma Talk at 7:30 pm. Tea and snacks and socializing will follow the talk. Please check the homepage of the website for dates.
